Dr. Aya Kamzina is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Early Detection and Prevention at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), where she works under the direction of Dr. Matt Huentelman. She joined the Huentelman laboratory in 2023. Dr. Kamzina earned her Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from University College London, UK, and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Arizona State University.
Dr. Kamzina research focuses on using induced pluripotent stem cell-derived brain organoids and microglia as models to study neurodegenerative diseases. She specializes in multi-omics characterization to identify molecular markers and pathways involved in disease progression, with the goal of discovering novel therapeutic targets. Dr. Kamzina has expertise in genetic engineering, recombinant protein production and purification, immunoassays, vaccine development, cell and tissue culture, imaging, single-cell sequencing, and RNA-seq data analysis. Her work contributes to advancing precision medicine approaches for neurodegenerative disorders.
