Dr. Laavanya Sankaranarayanan is largely interested in understanding how gene regulation and contributes to human development and disease. In the Banovich lab at TGen, Laavanya will be working on projects that focus on genetic changes relevant to pulmonary fibrosis using different experimental models of lung cells and leveraging genomic technologies such as single cell and spatial transcriptomics. Laavanya recently finished her PhD at Duke University, where she worked with Dr. Tim Reddy on identifying non-coding gene regulatory regions relevant to the pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome.
