Dr. Yi-An is a postdoctoral researcher in the Barthel Lab at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen). He obtained his PhD from the National Defense Medical Center in Taiwan, where he studied the roles of extrachromosomal telomere DNA in cancer with alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) activity. Before joining TGen, he trained in genomic technologies at The Jackson Laboratory in Connecticut.
Dr. Yi-An’s research focuses on the role of telomeres in chromatin organization using cutting-edge genomic technologies. He has developed a sequencing-based approach, Telomere-C, to study telomeric chromatin interactions genome-wide, applied to diploid fibroblast cell lines BJ and IMR90. His findings suggest that telomeric chromatin interactions influence nuclear organization and may play broader roles beyond end protection. His study is interested in understanding the implications of pathogenic chromatin interactions involving telomeres in tumor development.
