Arizona Snowbowl raises funds for TGen's Center for Rare Childhood Disorders
Portion of each lift ticket will help provide children with hope and answers
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - March 4, 2014 - Arizona
Snowbowl ski resort will donate a portion of each lift ticket sold
this Saturday, March 8, to the Center for Rare Childhood Disorders
at the Translational Genomics Research Institute
(TGen).
TGen Day at Arizona Snowbowl starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 5
p.m., an hour later than its usual closing time. Free cocoa, coffee
and cookies from 2-4 p.m. will accompany Saturday's special "sunset
skiing."
"This is a great opportunity for my family to contribute to TGen
in a significant way," said Lisa Borowsky, a member of the National
Advisory Committee for TGen's Center for Rare Childhood Disorders.
Her father, Eric Borowsky, is the General Partner/Owner of Arizona
Snowbowl. "We can have fun in the snow and raise funds that will
help provide hope and answers for these children and their
families."
TGen's Center for Rare Childhood Disorders is on the frontline in
the battle to provide diagnosis for children whose medical
conditions are often just a collection of symptoms; whose
conditions are so rare they often don't even have a name.
Our genomic sequencing uses the latest technology to find out
everything possible about a patient's genetics. TGen's sequencing
machines are able - in a matter of hours - to spell out, in order,
the billions of chemical letters that make an individual's DNA, and
other elements of their genome.
TGen's researchers use that information to provide patients, their
families and their doctors with the best medical options for their
unique illnesses. They direct the most appropriate medicine or
medical technology to specific patients based on the unique genomic
characteristics of those patients, providing them with the best
possible outcomes.
Snowbowl, 9300 N. Snowbowl Road, is located in the majestic San
Francisco Peaks north of Flagstaff. The turnoff for Snowbowl Road
is off U.S. 180, about 6 miles northwest of Flagstaff.
Opened in 1938, Snowbowl boasts the best terrain park in Arizona,
including fun boxes, rails, hits and spines. Snowmaking will
