TGen North, located in Flagstaff, Arizona, is the home of TGen's Pathogen & Microbiome Division. From a holistic, One Health perspective, the scientists and researchers at TGen North focus on diagnostic, analytic, forensic, ecologic, and epidemiologic research of microbes critical to healthcare and public health and safety.

TGen North is a proud contributor to the vibrant Flagstaff research community, actively participates in local education and outreach activities, and is a founding member of STEM City, an organization that contributed to Flagstaff being named America’s First STEM Community.

OUR MISSION

To advance human health through next-generation microbial science.

Microbiome

We apply advanced laboratory and computer technology to explore the next frontier in our understanding of how microbes relate to human health and disease: the human microbiome.

TGEN ONE HEALTH COLLABORATIVE

A next-generation approach of collaborative research, cutting edge technology, and health policy to advance population health (people, animals, and the environment) using a One Health strategy.

Healthcare-Acquired Infections

With a focus on the continual advancement of antibiotic resistance, we partner with healthcare providers to characterize and track critical pathogens in hospitals and clinics, which ultimately allows physicians to provide personalized therapy and prevent outbreaks.

TUBERCULOSIS

Through sequencing technology, we are developing more accurate diagnoses and treatments for this pathogen that affects one-third of the world population.

DISEASE DETECTIVES

From strep to influenza to rare fungal infections, we have developed advanced capabilities to assist public health and healthcare officials investigating disease outbreaks in our backyard and around the world.

BIODEFENSE

By collaborating with law enforcement, public health, military, and intelligence communities, TGen North and Northern Arizona University work to support America’s biosecurity and protection from pathogens such as anthrax and plague.
