Runway for Research Final Totals Over $231,000

TGen fashion show fundraiser achieves record amount, announces 2023 co-chairs and date

PHOENIX — January 25, 2022 — The TGen Foundation and event co-chairs today announced the total for the Institute’s 2022 Runway for Research fundraiser, presented in partnership with Neiman Marcus and Scottsdale Fashion Square and the 2022 presenting sponsor, the McRae Family. The annual event brings the community together, celebrates cancer survivors, and advances progress by raising critical funds for women’s cancer research at TGen, part of City of Hope.

2022 Co-chairs Vicki Vaughn, and Bijen Dyrek joined the 2022 Runway committee to celebrate a record-setting amount — over $231,000 — and announce the date and co-chairs for its 2023 event. The total represents the highest amount ever in event sponsorships and the highest revenue raised day-of and post-event activities, including 10% of sales from the weekend of the event generously contributed by Neiman Marcus.

“The success of last year’s event is a direct reflection our co-chairs and the entire Runway committees efforts. Their work on behalf of TGen is inspiring and impacts the lives of women,” said Erin Massey, Chief Development Officer at TGen, and Vice President of Philanthropy at City of Hope. “The community support of TGen's transformational work in precision medicine inspires our scientists to continue to push for new and better ways to treat and diagnose disease.”

“Bijen and I could not be more excited to work with the new co-chairs and to see the energy they bring to this year’s event,” said Vaughn. “We’d also like to thank last year’s committee for all their work and dedication – it’s incredibly rewarding to know our combined efforts result in research that stands to benefit patients in need.”

The event once again will take place at Scottsdale Fashion Square in partnership with Neiman Marcus. The two-hour show turns Fashion Square’s luxury wing into a runway, where guests receive a first-class experience while treating themselves to an insider's preview to the latest fall fashions showcased by dozens of models.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US. In addition to cervical and ovarian cancer, the most common cancers among women in the U.S. are breast, colorectal, lung, skin and uterine. When it comes to cancer, knowledge is power: routine exams and a willingness to discuss cancer openly help. Beyond the festivities and fashion, the event supports TGen's research in precision medicine, for the benefit of patients everywhere.
